New Mexico’s Community Solar Program
Community Solar helps communities, individuals, and organizations throughout New Mexico benefit from the development of solar energy facilities. It has the potential to provide solar energy to families regardless of income or building ownership, and will further develop a strong renewable energy industry and related jobs in New Mexico.
NM’s community solar program requires 30% of the energy from each project serve low-income households and low-income serving organizations. The 45 projects that will come online in 2025 have all committed to:
Allocate at least 50% capacity to low-income subscribers.
Have no upfront costs, early termination fees, or credit checks for low-income subscribers.
Offer discounts to low-income subscribers of an additional 20—30% of the solar bill credit, for at least five years.
